I have been staying in London with my old friend Nick, who shared a flat with me when we were at Bristol University back in 1969-70. He has reinvented himself several times, from studying philosophy, to being a guitarist, a gardener, and now a luthier, building guitars.
He lives with his wife Almuth in a large converted church hall near Wimbledon. Almuth is a well respected sculptor.
It has been interesting to hang out with them both, and vicariously taste the life of a couple of London creatives.
