San Sebastian

Prep here.

We drove from Cudillero along the coast past the Picos de Europa National Park and Antoni Gaudi's first house, El Capricho

San Sebastian is a lovely city, in the bay between the north coast of Spain and the west coast of France. It is famous for its pintxos bars and seafood. It is also one of the two main cities in the Spanish Basque area, of which more later.

Pintxos is a Basque word which means the same at the Spanish word 'Tapas'. It is pronounced 'Pinchos'. The TX combination occurs often in Basque; it produces a 'tch' sound. A 'bitch with an itch' might be written 'bitx with an itx', (I think). 😊
