Swell sculpture festival

Every year the Gold Coast stages a sculpture festival on the beach and dunes at Currumbin. It's usually best to try and take photos of it around sunrise, before the crowds arrive and complicate the view.

Here are a few of the sculptures from this year.

'Whale Playground' by Sam Gowing

'Sun Spirit' by Frank Miles

'Bullshark (What Lies Within)' by Robert Guenther

'Reflection' by Phillip Piperides

'Drowning in Plastic' by Gail Dawson

'Passing Through' by Rae Saheli

'Monolith' by Clayton Blake

'M-thirtysix' by James Parrett

'Industrial Wildflowers' by Carolyn Donovan

'Damien Hirst looking for sharks' by Danger Dave

'Cast' by Lincoln Austin with Currumbin SLSC

'Standing Wave 2' by John Nesirky

'Bin Chicken' by Kirsten Baade

'#Lifetime' by Hooman Jaffar, Taylah Jardine, and Owen Thompson
